FDPPI has set up Special Interest Groups to monitor the impact of DPPDA Act and Rules on different sections of the industry and provide periodical feedback to the Data Protection Board. This was a follow up of the event held in Bengaluru on July 27 to discuss the industry views on the draft DPDPA Rules.
Currently two SIGs have been constituted. One for Health Care Sector and other for Education industry.
The members of the SIG are as follows:
Na.Vijayashankar (Naavi), Chairman FDPPI, will be a common member and Chairman for all SIGs and will be assisted by TC.Manju. One of the Directors of FDPPI or other prominent member of FDPPI may be co-opted for each SIG to assist the committee.

Purpose
The purpose of SIG is to:
- Advocate for best practices in data protection specific to the relevan sector.
- Influence policies, standards, and regulations related to healthcare data protection and privacy.
Objectives
The key objectives of SIG may include:
- Compliance & Regulation: Provide guidance on compliance with specific data protection regulations and other relevant laws.
- Research & Innovation: Support research on emerging threats, technologies, and solutions in healthcare data protection and privacy.
- Policy Advocacy: Engage with regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders to influence the development of policies and standards that safeguard patient data.
Best Practices: Develop and disseminate specific guidelines, toolkits, and resources to help organizations implement effective data protection measures.
The SIGs will function as virtual committees, meeting as often as required.
